"Comic Book: The Movie"

I borrowed the DVD of Comic Book: The Movie from the library last week, and last night lostsatyr and I finally got to watch it.

It was a fun movie. I'm not as big of a comic book fan as I used to be, but I still loved some of the in-jokes. And Mark Hammill is always a delight. That man has some serious comedic chops. =)

You also get to see a number of voice actors (Billy West, Gary Owens, et.al.) "in the flesh," which was also great fun.

The second half (or thereabouts) of the movie takes place at the 2002 San Diego ComiCon, with a number of celebrities (including Matt Groening, Ron Perlman & Mike Mignola) making cameos - another bonus.

If you're a comic or VA fan, you'll have a great time with this one.

Hey, that's funny! We just watched it last night, too! (We got it from Netflix.) Unfortunately, our disc was damaged so we could not watch all of the Bruce Campbell scene, or the scene where they introduce Liberty Lass.

I agree that it was neat to see Comic-Con from an insider's perspective, as I have never been (nor really want to go). Mark Hamill and Billy West were very funny, and it was great to see so many cameos. (Greg Nicotero, the special effects guy who made the Commander Courage suit, was one of my favorites, as was the brief in-joke with the Men Behind the Masks guys - David Prowse, Peter Mayhew, and Jeremy Bulloch. I had to let S in on that one.)

I also loved the shots of the cosplayers. Some were great, and some were (expectedly) terrible. :)
