Bargain night at the 2nd run movie theatre

...was last night. lostsatyr and I saw Aeon Flux.

It was...weird.

Not having seen more than snippets of the original animated series, I was sort of confused. This was not helped by the writers' apparent need to beat the viewer over the head getting topical. OK, folks, cloning = bad. I get it. Of course, if they hadn't been cloning themselves, they wouldn't have survived long enough to start having babies the old-fashioned way again. :p

The chick with hands in place of feet was intriguing.

Is it me, or does Charlize Theron have no tits to speak of? I seem to recall the animated Aeon had more curves. :)

I'm glad we saw this one for $1.50. :)

Before the movie, we went to Media Play to check out their "Going-out-of-Business" Sale. We picked up a number of DVDs, and lostsatyr found a PS2 game he'd been eyeing. At 50% off, we weren't going to argue. I got a couple of Sakura Taisen DVDs, along with Master of Mosquiton and a couple other series I've been considering. So now we have an even bigger DVD backlog. :)

Back to the bills....

Master of Mosquiton! Ooooo! That's one I've been wanting to pick up on DVD for some time now. Thoroughly enjoyed the video tapes, but would love to watch it on a decent DVD version.

And, hey, there's no such thing as a bad backlog of DVDs to watch. What's bad is not having the time to watch it all. :op D'oh, that's where the backlog comes from. *slaps forehead*

Scaphandra was the name of the spy who had hands for feet, in the animated series. I'm not sure of the spelling, though.

Yes, Aeon's measurements were something like 40-26-34 in the cartoon. There is proof of that in the series.

Even if you watch all of the episodes of the series, it still doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I haven't seen the movie, but I can't imagine that its logic is any better than the series.

One character I'm interested to see is Una. She's supposed to be Aeon's sister in the movie, but I always got the feeling that she was just an old friend in the cartoon.

Ah, well. I'll get it for the movie channels and watch it then.
