Maybe I'm trying too hard

So, I've made up something like three different WitchCraft PCs for lostsatyr's game and none of them seem to be "clicking" for me.

Maybe I'm trying too hard.

Don't give up yet.
Have you run any of them for more than one session?

Sometimes a PC takes a while to click in....

No obvious holes in the group? Maybe you should look in terms of personality type rather than skills set. Or you can always tailor a PC to fit in with the 'alpha' plot (if there is one)...

Maybe you need an "Aurthur Dent" character instead, just an average Joe or plain Jane.

Aurthur Dent? I'm afraid I don't recognize the reference.

This is going to sound a bit weird, but why not try to get into your character's heads using a fortune-telling technique (ie tarot cards, etc)?

It would, at the very least, give you a start to build their personalities. Or even to say "no, s/he's not like that at all! I'd rather it be this way."
