First thoughts on a new game

So, I've been reading through Mage: The Awakening. So far, I thoroughly love it. Despite what the naysayers have been saying, I don't see it as being too narrow. If anything, it feels more open to me.

No more Ascension War? Great, I never liked that anyway. The Technocratic Union is gone? Big fat hairy deal. No metaplot? *Does the happy dance*

I'm actually okay with the Atlantis thing. It at least means everyone believes the same thing, which means they can work magic together. YES!

The new affiliations work better for me than the old Traditions (or Conventions) ever did. With the Path/Order combo, I no longer have to worry about fitting my characters into one of nine little boxes. Now, I have something like one hundred and twenty possible combinations (more if you add in the legacies) Oh, the possibilities!

Now if only I could find someone to play it with me....

I haven't bought it yet, but I probably will eventually. I'd like to keep an open mind about things, but I have this affliction wherein if Atlantis is mentioned, I just space off. That's what happened to me when I read Dark Ages: Mage.

I have this certain LJ friend who was part of this local group that used to meed for margaritas once a week, he's really new agey so much so that he's making his own religion or something. He and his girl were talking to us one day and they started to talk about Atlantis and stuff and how Bush and Cheney really went to war in Iraq because there is some sort of transdimentional gate there that they wanted to have control of to keep our minds closed and tuned into the Christian mind-control vibrations and pretty soon all I heard was Charlie Brown's teacher.

I'm afraid that if I read Mage: The Awakening the same thing will happen.

That being said, I love my free copy of the new World of Darkness.

I just wish this friend of mine would play "Real Life" more often.

Perhaps I should have the game company my other friend own option the rights?

So I'm guessing a play by post game isn't in the future?

Not one run by me, anyway - I've discovered that GMing PbP games wears me out like nobody's business. I'll stick to running my biweekly tabletop games. :)
