We has a Wii!

Yesterday, while I did my banking at the Citizens kiosk in Tops, lostsatyr - as is his usual practice during those times - went browsing in Game Stop a few doors down.

When I was done with my banking, I went over to Game Stop to join the hubby. At one point I stepped out for a bit, and that happened to coincide with one of the sales people taking a smoke break. We got into the following conversation:

ME: So, I assume Wiis are still rarer than hens' teeth?
HIM: Actually, we have some - we have, like, four of them.
ME: *stunned look* (Beat) Um, hang on....

I went right back into the store, and told lostsatyr, "Guess what? They have Wiis."

Surprised, lostsatyr went up to the counter (with me in tow) and said to the fellows behind it, "She says you have Wiis." They said, "Yes, we do. Would you like one?" We were, like, "Yes, please!"

So, we are now the proud owners of a Wii! We also splurged and got the WiiPlay pack (with the extra Wii-mote, so both of us can play), two Game Cube controllers and a Game Cube memory card (so we can play Game Cube games), and a couple of (used) Naruto games for the Cube ('cause I couldn't pass up the chance to put some of my favorite ninja through their paces :).

Happy Anniversary to us, a little early!

Of course you know this means I'll visit more
Good for you.

If you wind up with spare cash I recommend the Link crossbow training game. The holding device for the wii mote that comes with it is good and the game is mindless fun.

BELIEVE IT!

If you like the wii sports, try Carnival Games.

For some weird fun, our eldest recommends Cooking Mama. She also really enjoyed Super Mario Galaxy.

Okami just came out for the Wii as well. Highly recommended by me if you missed it on PS2.

Also, and for whatever reason Gamespot/EBGames doesnt carry this-but if you liked pinball, get the Pinball Hall of Fame- Williams Collection. I had to order mine through Amazon, but it was a budget title and its the exact tables from the 80's and 90's.

Our Wii has proven to be a lot of fun. Boogie can be hilarious, as it encourages some hard dancing, but the karaoke mode sucks compared to something like Karaoke Revolution. Wii Sports is the most played game we have, and I picked up Harvey Birdman: Atourney at Law, but I haven't had a ton of free time lately to play it. Funny as hell, though, especially if you liked the TV show.

Wiis are very cool!

WiiPlay is a bit weirder than Wii Sports (still love Sports), but it was plenty of fun for a bit. If you have a game rental account with anyone, try your hand at a few different Wii games before purchasing. A lot of them are cool or funky, but many don't have good lasting power, IMHO.

Resident Evil 4 for the Wii is perhaps one of the finest games for that (or any) console. The reticle really puts it ahead of any of the other versions. However, the game is uber-intense....

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is a lot of fun, also, and beautiful. Another long game, though.

No More Heroes is hilarious; good for a weekend. Wario Ware was another fun weekend game; Cooking Mama was amusing for a few days. S also liked Trauma Center, but I couldn't get into it aside from the funny dialogue.

Okami has gotten great reviews for the Wii. I played the PS2 version, but I'm looking to try out the Wii one for the paintbrush action.
