Toracon 2011

I had a good time, despite the cold, wet weather on both days, which didn't do much for my cosplays. *sigh*

I got Brina Palencia's autograph on my copy of Nabari No Ou, saw a cool panel about traveling in Japan, picked up some cool stuff in the dealers room and the artists' alley, and discovered Axis Powers Hetalia (which is very amusing).

On Saturday, I went to a panel about "Anime Amazons" that, while not bad, was sort of disappointing, because the panelist refused to see beyond her own point of view and didn't seem to understand that in Japan, women can be both strong *and* nurturing (thought that panel did get me and lostsatyr thinking about doing a panel on "Japanese Culture for Otaku." Maybe next Toracon....)

On Sunday, nekojindesigns enjoyed my cosplay of Lina Uhrmacher, one of their original characters. It made me feel good, especially since they seemed so happy - they even told another customer, "She's cosplaying our character!" :) I think I will do it again at Otakon this year, because I like the costume and look good in it. And it also got lostsatyr interested in cosplaying Colin Raido, another of their original characters, so maybe the two of us can do a dual Neko-jin cosplay at Otakon. :)

All in all, a fun con. Hopefully the weather will cooperate next year, though. :)
