*slaps cheek in astonishment*
I guess it was high time; I've run numerous games in four of their five "flagship" systems (every one but Wraith; I never quite got into it) for more than a decade now. And with White Wolf writing finis to the WoD this year, it seems eeriely apropos.
I don't know if I'll look into WoD 2.0 or not; I'm going to reserve judgement until I see it.
As with any leavetaking though, there is some sadness. I cut my GMing teeth on White Wolf's games, and it'll be hard to leave them behind. Like a set of well-worn and treasured clothes that I've outgrown, but part of me still wants to hang on to, it'll be a little hard to give it up, but maybe it's for the best.
Looking forward, though, I think I can see new possibilities, something which White Wolf, with its "ticking time bomb to the End of the World" schtick, never really seemed to be all that good for. Maybe that's why I tried to see if there was a way to avert Gehenna, The Apocalypse, the Long Winter, what have you. And why I liked the Year of the Lotus books, with their idea that time is a circle, not a straight line.
So, it's time to lay my WoD setting to rest, finally. Eleven years and, at last count, nine games (plus an online game and numerous convention events and one-shots) -- what a long, strange ride it's been....
